Lead Capture

Any business can have a corporate website that gives visitors more information about the business’ products and service. A website can have other uses as well aside from pure advertisement or contact. If a business website is not in the practice of capturing leads then many successful businesses believe that the website is actually just wasting its time and should be redesigned. The term lead capture refers to the practice of obtaining visitor and potential client contact information through the business’ website. This is never forced and the client makes the choice whether or not to give the necessary information. With this information the business can contact the client at a later date.

There are many lead capture tools available that can be used to capture the contact information of visitors to a website. The easiest method is the so-called opt-in list. This lead capture tool usually takes the form of an area on the website where a visitor can enter their e-mail address and ask to be informed of updates or new developments. Some websites place this form on every page since it is not guaranteed that a visitor will come to the website through the home page. Another shape the form can take, though it remains essentially the same thing, is the guest book form. Visitors enter their e-mail and then indicate whether or not they would like to receive further information.

Another lead capture tool that is often used on websites is the landing page. A landing page is essentially is essentially a page where a visitor ‘lands’ and is then redirected to the page where the product or service is being offered. Visitors are often asked for their e-mail address and other information before being redirected. This lead capture tool serves two important purposes. The visitors enter the information and it is saved for later communication and the business is now aware of what the visitor is interested in. This makes direct marketing to the visitor a lot easier than it would have been.

A lead capture tool that is starting to see more and more use these days is an article. Visitors find the article on the business’ website when looking for useful information and after reading the article becomes interested in the business’ products or services. If the article was well written and informative then the visitor is likely to return to the website in hopes of finding more information. The visitor will also be more willing to enter their contact information if there is a promise of more such articles or some other bonus.

Lead capture can be a useful tool to get in contact with the potential clients of a business. There are many more methods available and a competent Webmaster can help design the perfect lead capturing website for any business. Successful use of lead capturing can help a business find their target market to target them directly. This leads to savings on marketing costs as well as a greater return on investment.
